Better treatment instead of savings at patients’ expense.
If better treatment can prevent or reduce serious health consequences, patients benefit and long-term treatment, rehabilitation and care costs may also decrease. That is what we mean by Ethical Saving: saving ethically through better care.
Science before promises. We distinguish between an idea, technical feasibility, preclinical results and clinically proven patient benefit.
From an idea in emergency medical services to a long-term research project.
The idea for Medicalcooling arose while working in emergency medical services: could cooling after cardiac arrest begin during ventilation and be directed more specifically at the brain?
Over many years, this question developed into a technical and scientific project. Around €1.5 million was invested externally and approximately €300,000 was contributed from personal funds.
Technical feasibility and targeted cooling of the human brain have been demonstrated in research settings. Whether this translates into clinical patient benefit must be tested in appropriate clinical trials.

Position paper on emergency care reform
We propose a product-neutral innovation and evaluation pathway for new prehospital diagnostic and treatment methods. The goal is controlled scientific evaluation under real-world emergency medical service conditions and a suitable reimbursement path.
